April Snell has over 20 years of experience assisting children and adults in achieving their therapeutic goals leading to a more satisfying life. Ms. Snell’s approach to therapy is from a systems perspective working within the context of the entire family even when working with individuals. In working with children and adolescents she has training and experience in early childhood brain development, play therapy, and substance abuse treatment both individually and in group settings with adolescents. She is also experienced in providing therapy to adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system dealing with issues such as anger management, violent thinking patterns, and oppositional behavior. Her experience working with adults includes therapeutic settings ranging from vocational/career counseling to providing therapy to adults with severe and persistent mental illness. She also has experience in assisting with adjustments to life transitions, mood disorders, family issues, and parenting. Ms. Snell graduated from Carson Newman University with her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health Service Provider and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In 2016, Ms. Snell received the North American Council on Adoptable Children Activist Award. Ms. Snell is currently working on her Doctoral Degree at the University of Tennessee to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner .
